Tomo Pjanic wins Worlds Away Magic Title!

Posted by Brad on Dec 7th, 2017 | 0 Comments

On Saturday, Dec. 2, Worlds Away crowned its 2017 Magic the Gathering Champion…Tomo Pjanic! The top 32 players from the year-long quest qualified for the free standard tournament on Saturday, Dec. 2. After five rounds there was a cut to top eight, and the lucky few proceeded to a free Hour of Devastation/Amonkhet draft. Everyone in the top eight received a beautiful mana sun-catcher, and the winner a killer stained-glass trophy, all designed by my friend Cheryl Garrett-Jenkins. In the top eight, Juha Erme faced Adam Hobbs, Anthony Bechard battled James Van Klink, Tomo Pjanic met three-time defending champion Matt Pinsky, and Sean Blute faced Kevin Park. When the dust cleared, it was Adam and Sean and James and Tomo meeting in the semis. In the final, Tomo topped Sean in two to take home the hardware.

I must give a massive shout out to Clinton Prince for donating a box of Ixalan from his winnings at the Forest City Magic Community Cup charity event. Packs were given out as door prizes, feature matches and to those in the top eight. Bravo!
